Electoral Commission receive TOP$2.2 million technical assistance

The Government of New Zealand and Tonga’s Electoral Commission this morning signed a MOU of 2.2 million pa’anga assistance. The MOU signed will provide technical assistance from experts in NZ to the locals – with the purpose to encourage eligible voters to vote during the General Elections.
Speaking during this morning’s program Chairman of Tonga’s Electoral Commission Rt. Hon Lord Dalgety said, the agreement signed will help them deliver their vote effectively to the public.
Also attending this morning’s program was the Chief Electoral Commissioner of New Zealand – Alicia Wright where she expressed how happy they are to assist Tonga.
Meanwhile, NZ’s High Commissioner to Tonga – H.E Tiffany Babington said – they hope that this initiative will assist Tonga’s electoral commission as they gear up for the general election in 2021.
The assistance is a 3-year program.
