Maori King among foreign royalty to attend His Majesty’s Birthday celebrations

Foreign Royals are among the distinguished guests expected to be in Nuku’alofa for His Majesty’s birthday celebration on the 4th of July.
Guests include the Maori King and members of his household. Part of the festivities will include the Maori King’s Waka rowing at Vuna Wharf will be accompanied by one of His Majesty’s Armed Forces patrol boats, as well as canoes from the Nuku’alofa Outrigger Canoe Club.
There will also be a prayer service at the Centenary Church on Thursday morning to be followed by a military parade and a royal luncheon with traditional Tongan entertainment.
The Ministry of Education will host the Education Day together with a traditional torch lighting ceremony known as Tupakapakanava along with entertainment from schools and a special performance by a Chinese team. The celebration of King Tupou VI’s 60th Birthday will end with a choral night on Sunday 7th of July.
