13 youths completed training on drugs and alcohol awareness

There have been successful results seen from various programs carried out in Tonga in the fight against drugs.
This morning, 13 certificates were presented to those who successfully completed a 3-month training conducted by the Salvation Army on drugs and alcohol awareness.
The team leader of the Salvation Army Drugs and Alcohol Awareness Center – Ned Cook says, they’ve seen life-changing results from the program especially the youth and hopes they could carry out similar programs in the secondary schools as youth are at risks to the impacts of drugs and alcohol.
Cook says, they’ve carried out life skills program including relapse training which has proven a success for participants.
Meanwhile, Mo’ale Vi and ‘Ofa Tauki’uvea from the program says they’ve learned many important things from the program including learning to control their anger as it has resulted in family problems.
The program was held over three months in partnership with the Ministry of Police, Prison also the Ministry of Justice.
