The former Education Minister Dr ‘Ana Taufe’ulungaki this morning highlighted the significance for Christian Education to be a part of the Tonga Education System during a two-day International Christian Conference currently held in Nuku’alofa.
It is currently hosted by Christ’s University in the Pacific with the aim to encourage Christ-centered and bible-based education for schools in Tonga.
Dr ‘Ana Taufe’ulungaki this morning says Christian education must align with advocate academic and moral excellence in Tongan education and quoted a verse from the book of Proverbs in the bible on the important role parents and teachers.
“Parents can soften hearts but can’t control them. Show them the path? Yes. Force them to take it? No. If that is the case, it is imperative for us Christians and Christian communities of this age of multiple challenges of cyber freedom which allows anything to be aired publicly from pornography, of inverted values which promote degreed self-centeredness and worship of the devil and not least of all, the promotion of liberal values that now condemns God’s words in the bible as “hate speech” as we have heard and experienced in the case of Israel Folau in recent months.”
Dr Taufe’ulungaki elaborates on how studying the bible and appropriate actions should be the foundation of Tonga’s education to achieving academic and moral excellence.
“To ensure we show our children the way to go and ask the Holy Spirit to help them make wise life choices that lead to eternal life. Otherwise, there is no purpose to our education and to our lives. Christian Education is therefore not just important but critically imperative to our survival as individuals, communities and the nation. Not just from global warming and climate change but from sin and eternal damnation. 0817
The conference continued with a panel discussion regarding Christian education and will wrap up tomorrow.
