Paula Naitoko’s case had been adjourned for 2 weeks following a request from the defense – so they can consider their position on whether or not they consent for the case to be submitted to the supreme court for trial.
This was after the 59-year-old senior customs officer’s case was mentioned at the Magistrate Court in Fasi.
Naitoko was only released on bail with conditions after he appeared at the Supreme Court on Friday.
He had been in custody since he was arrested and charged in relation to a major seizure of illicit drugs on April 23rd at the Queen Salote Wharf.
While the 59-year old on bail, he’s to remain at his house, put on the no fly list among other conditions.
Naitoko was charged with nine counts that included engaging with others to import illicit drugs and abetting the importation of illegal firearms and ammunition.
The street value of the drugs seized is worth over $6 million pa’anga.
