26 youth in ‘Ahau complete one-week employment and work training

To tackle the increasing number of youth unemployment, the Matala training & learning solutions conducted a 5-day workshop for the youth of ‘Ahau to recognize their individual talents so they could find steady jobs for themselves.

Meleoni Ueara from the Matala Training and learning solutions says part of the program was giving counsel and advice also encouraging talks from experts on the importance of finding a job and how it could contribute to their community, church and the country as a whole.

She also hopes that by the end of the program, participants would now be able to find a job to help provide for themselves and their families.

Meanwhile, Taani Siale and Paea ‘Alatini from ‘Ahau says the program is helpful as they are now able to identify the right type of job based on their individual skills and talents.

The program ended last Friday – with presenting of certificates to 26 youths who succesfully completed the program.

The program was funded by Australia through Tonga Skills.
