People of Kauvai Ha’anoa Ha’apai celebrates the completion of community hall reconstruction

The Ambassador of Japan yesterday marked the completion of the reconstruction work to Kauvai Ha’ano Ha’apai’s community Hall that was damaged by Cyclone Gita last year.
The project was to the tune of 100 thousand pa’anga and was funded by the Government of Japan under Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects- GGP.
Representative of Ha’apai- Mo’ale Finau says – the hall will serve as a beacon of hope for the people of Kauvai, through various training programs and outreach activities. It will also serve as a steady shelter during times of disaster as well as a place for the distribution of basic needs after a disaster.
In his keynote address H.E Tetsuya Ishii urge the people in the Kauvai area to have good cooperation, support and management amongst themselves in order to ensure that their daily work and activities will continue to advance.
He also urges the locals on the importance to make good use of the assistance and to take good care of it, so it will benefit the island’s generations today and tomorrow.
Also attending the program were Lord and Lady Tu’iha’angana.
