The General Manager of the MV ‘Onemato has confirmed with Radio Tonga News this morning that its services are currently suspended due to technical faults.

Suliasi ‘Aholelei says they are hopeful the problem will be resolved within two days and the MV ‘Onemato is expected to resume its operations later this week.

While the MV ‘Onemato is undergoing maintenance and repairs, the MV Maui is operating for the people of ‘Eua for their inter-island transportation services.

Meanwhile the Government Representative of ‘Eua Sunia Havea says he’s concerned about the management of financial issues by the ‘Eua Sea Transportation Council as more than hundred thousand pa’anga was spent for the MV ‘Onemato while it was in Fiji last month for its maintenance.

Gov.  Rep adds the MV ‘Onemato is significant for their daily operations but he’s concerned about the amount of money spent for its maintenance.

Radio Tonga contacted the Marine Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure for a clarification on the issue but to no avail.
