Teachers mark World Teachers Day on Friday

Hundreds of teachers gathered at Queen Salote College Hall on Friday morning to mark World Teacher’s day with the theme “Young Teachers – the Future of the Profession”.
The program started with teachers marching along the Taufa’ahau road in Nuku’alofa.
Today’s program includes a one minute of silence remembering teachers who died during the year and a tribute to the late Prime Minister ‘Akilisi Pohiva who was also the Minister of Education and a teacher for years.
Leading today’s prayer service was the President of Seventh Day Church – Pastor Saia Vea and he highly praised and acknowledged the hard work and sacrifices teachers have made.
Pastor Saia Vea said, “Young teachers the future of the profession it is so true and in honour for young teachers to get to where we want them to be, we need all the teachers to guide them to lead them and I entitle the talk this morning that you have been call or you have been chosen. it is not by accident that you are here but you have been called by God for his purpose and that is for you to become a teacher.”
