Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 10/10/2019

This is the aim behind the Nuku’alofa Film Festival emphasizing the theme to encourage local talent to produce films with content relevant to Tonga or the Pacific.

Virginie Dourlet – secretary of the board and co-programmer of Nuku’alofa Film Festival said they are receiving more and more film submissions for the festival every year and this year they are showing 12 short films and 4 movies/documentaries, and all of them are either based on Pacific stories or are relevant to the Pacific.

Dourlet says the festival and these films are aimed at inspiring local talent to tell our Tongan stories through film.

The film festival began last night and will continue until Saturday which will be a public screening of the documentary – For My Fathers Kingdom, at Tonga High School at 1pm aimed for youth but is open for all, and then at the Queen Salote College Hall at 7pm for the general public
