Tonga celebrates Global Hand Washing Day

Live & Learn Tonga Trust this morning hosted a special program to mark Global Hand Washing Day to emphasize the importance of handwashing to young children and to encourage hygienic lifestyle.

Live & Learn Country Manager – Robertson Faka’osi says better health and hygiene can be achieved by children when taught at a young age.

He also praised the success of the High 5 Under 5’s Hand Washing Campaign which emphasizes the importance of handwashing to young children by teaching them how to make a habit out of proper handwashing.

Ocean of Light Kindergarten teacher- ‘Inita Taufa says this campaign is important for her students to understand, how and when they need to wash their hands to keep them safe from germs before eating and to ensure they wash their hands after using the bathroom or playing outside.

During the program Deputy CEO of Ministry of Internal Affair – Polotu Paunga presented prizes for the preschool students who won competitions organised by the Live & Learn program.
