Food security emphasized on World Food Day

The Acting PM highlighted the significance for related stakeholders to co-operate to ensure food security in Tonga. Hon. Vuna Fa’otusia highlighted this during a special program to mark World food Day today with the theme – Our action – are Our future.

The global theme for this year is “Our actions Are Our Future. Healthy Diets for a Zero Hunger World”.

Acting Prime Minister- Vuna Fa’otusia highlighted the significance for related stakeholders to co-operate to ensure food security in Tonga saying that World Food Day supports FAO first priority is to fight against the raising rates of non-communicable diseases-NCDs.

During the program Acting Prime Minister presented certificates and prizes to the winners of the competitions; the farmers, fishermen, private sectors and all line ministries including Ministry of Fisheries, Health, Education and other stakeholders.
