Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 23/10/2019
The Former Minister of Police – Mateni Tapueluelu and a Church Minister of the FWC strongly oppose the cabinet decision that allowed the Brown Group to carry out a public consultation on hemps seeds.
However, Mateni and Rev. Semisi Kava opposed this and said, it doesn’t matter how much THC hemps contains, what matters is that hemps contains THC therefore it is drugs.
The group belives that this initiative would bring in economic benefits to the country and help in the country’s development but Mateni opposed this and said, if we’re going to accept this we should also accept gambling and prostitution because those will also generate income to the company.
However, Radio and television Tonga News contacted the Acting PM for a comment on the issue but to no avail.
