People in Vava’u overjoyed to welcome their Majesties today

Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u will depart from Tongatapu this afternoon on their way to officially open the beginning of the Royal Agricultural show this year at Niuatoputapu.

The Lord Chamberlain told Radio Tonga News that their Majesties will leave for Vava’u first before travelling to the Niuas starting from Niuatoputapu’s Royal Agricultural Show.

Reports from the Governors’ office in Vava’u says, the people of Vava’u are excited to welcome their Majesties to the Fatafatamāfana with a traditional presentation of ‘hā‘unga’ at the Royal Palace in Fangatongo.

The ‘hā‘unga’ will be led by the Governor – Lord Fulivai with taking chief Afuhalaufuli. Their Majesties will be in Fangatongo until Wednesday, they will depart to Niuatoputapu.

They will continue to the island of Niuafo’ou on Thursday and return to Vava’u for their Royal Agricultural show this Saturday.

Next Wednesday their Majesties will be in Ha’apai and ‘Eua on next Saturday. The Royal Agricultural show will be concluded in Tongatapu on the 14th and 15th of August.

Meantime the Minister of Agriculture, Food Forestry and Fisheries – Hon. Semisi Fakahau will also depart from Tongatapu today for the royal agriculture show.

The theme will be highlighted in this year’s show is “Food security for happy and healthy Tongans”.

The royal agricultural show this year will be broadcast live on Radio Tonga and will be recorded to broadcast on Television Tonga.
