Ttp9 MP pushes for government to halt public consultation on hemp seeds

People’s representative of Tongatapu 9 to parliament during this morning’s deliberations suggested to government to halt public consultation that cabinet passed on hemps seeds as the issue is illegal in Tonga.
Penisimani Fifita said, the committee that’s made up of stakeholders including the attorney general that were to lead the consultation has said, they are not supporting the consultation proposed – because it is illegal.
However, the deputy PM said, consultation is not illegal. He continued saying the request from the Brown Group was done in a professional manner as they revealed their plans to Cabinet.
The reason why cabinet approved the request is because they believe – the Brown Group should be given a chance to carry out a public consultation regarding their plans, also elaborate on the beneficial of hemp seeds.
Penisimani Fifita was still not satisfied with the response from Fa’otusia and the PM – Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa said, they will look into the issue.
