NZ Speaker of Parliament highlights women and youths’ importance to parliament during visit to Tonga

The NZ Speaker of Parliament believes women and youth will make significant contributions of providing quality decision making in Parliament. The Speaker Rt Hon Trevor Mallard is currently leading a 2-day parliamentary delegation to Tonga. This is the second delegation to the Pacific, following a visit to Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands last year.
Speaking to Radio Tonga news this morning, Rt. Hon. Trevor Mallard says, this is one of the issues currently addressed in New Zealand.
This morning, a women panel discussion consisting of various women in different leadership roles was hosted at the Tanoa International hotel.
This year’s delegation consists of one Labour MP, and 3 National MP’s.
The delegation leaves today and will carry out a similar program in Fiji tomorrow.
