Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 29/10/2019
The Popua Park has been closed to the public while a Royal Commission of Enquiry is underway, looking into work that was carried out on the park.
Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet – Edgar Cocker said, there’s already a decision from privy council and cabinet to carry out this enquiry – as many work was carried out to the park that needs to be investigated upon.
This includes the Sia Heulupe heritage site, lands used as the park was already allocated before and other issues.
Contact was made to the previous government for a comment on the issue but to no avail.
