The Tonga Breast Cancer Society this morning marked the completion of their programs to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a handover ceremony at Vaiola Hospital. This morning, the New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga along with Liz Cowley presented funds to the society – which was collected from a fundraising program they hosted earlier this month in support of breast cancer.
New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga – HE Tiffany Babington said this was a very important cause and also had personal significance to her as her mother is a breast cancer survivor.
Meanwhile, Leta Kami from the Society says they are grateful for the continued assistance and support received.
The assistance was received by the Health Minister – Dr. ‘Amelia Tu’ipulotu at the Mammogram Unit at Vaiola Hospital.
Pinktober ends this month while encouraging women to make use of the mammograph at Vaiola as “Early Detections Saves Lives.”
