4,382 voters to vote at the bi-elections of Tongatapu 1

4,382 voters have registered to vote at the upcoming Parliamentary by-elections of Tongatapu 1.

This is only 126 more than those registered in the 2017 General Election.

In the 2017 General Election, out of the 4,256 registered voters in Tongatapu 1, only 2,731 (64.17%) of voters turned out and voted.

2 candidates are vying for the role of Tongatapu no.1 People’s Representative, including former Prime Minister’s son, Siaosi Pohiva and Dr Netatua Pelesikoti Taufatofua.

The Electoral Commission confirmed during a televised program on Television Tonga that the most number of registered voters are women at 2288 or 52.2% while 47.8% of those registered are men (2094).

The by-election will be held Thursday next week, along with the results.
