New water supply system for the people of ‘Alakifonua

The people of ‘Alakifonua yesterday celebrated their new water supply system, 200 thousand pa’anga project funded by the Government of Japan.
Japanese Ambassador to Tonga H.E Tetsuya Ishii says, the project was funded under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects widely known as GGP.
“I heard that’ Alakifonua community has often suffered from water pump and pipes. I am very pleased to acknowledge that the water supply system has been improved through GGP and households will now be receiving clean and stable water everyday I trust that the people and water committee of ‘Alakifonua village will take good care of the new pump system for many years but also as a necessity for protecting the wellbeing of future generations in your community.”
Meanwhile the chairman of ‘Alakifonua’s Water Committee – ‘Apai Moala thanked the ambassador and the government of Japan for the kind assistance and said the project has solved the water problems they’ve been facing for many years.
