Tonga Electoral Commission denies allegations of misconduct on Tt1 by-election

Tonga Electoral Commission has denied allegations of misconduct during Tongatapu constituency 1 by-election held last Thursday.
The Supervisor of Election Pita Vuki says, they office hasn’t received any complaint, information or evidence regarding the allegations made.
Radio and Television Tonga News received information and calls on the issue accusing the Tonga Electoral Commission for misconduct during the by-election.
The allegation includes bribery.
However, to date the Electoral Commission is yet to receive any application to recount the votes casted on the by-election.
According to the Electoral ACT the candidate is given a week from the date of the by-election to submit an application to the Supervisor of election for a recount.
Last week’s by-election declared eldest son of the former MP of Tongatapu 1 – Siaosi ‘o Vailahi Pohiva winner with 1160 votes.
