Tonga this morning joined other countries in marking international Human Rights day with the theme “Creating a barrier free and inclusive society for Tonga.”
Speaking during a program to mark the day, the president of the Lavame’a Ta’e’iloa Disabled People Association – Rhema Misa says, they are hoping to break down the barriers that separates them from the society so that they can be able to solve the challenges they face daily living in the society.
Misa believes that an inclusive society means that they are part of the society and that government should create programs to help them feel they belong.
Attending this morning’s workshop were various representatives from various Ministries and Misa says, it is important for their voices to be heard by the government in order to help address challenges they face.
