PM highlights the importance of healthy families at 44th Anniversary of TFHA

Hon. Dr. Pōhiva Tu’ionetoa highlighted the important of the safety roles of the family in the country which is the first priority issue to the Tonga Family Health Association. This is a part of his remarks at Tonga Family Health Association 44th Anniversary this morning.
In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Pōhiva Tuionetoa says, it is important for families to prioritize the health of members in their families in order to address the issue concerning and health issues faced by many families today.
He adds, drugs has impacted the lives of youth in Tonga and encourages families to work closely with related stakeholders to help combat the drug problem faced by youth in the communities.
During the program, the President of the Association – Sione Hūfanga talked about their national plan for the year known as the Vakafolau Strategies 2020 – 2025 and hopes will benefit families in Tonga.
Hūfanga then presented the Vakafolau Strategies to the Prime Minister.
A cake cutting ceremony was held to mark the 44th anniversary of the Tonga Family Health Association.
The association was established in 1975 by His Late Majesty – King Tāufa’āhau Tupou IV when he was still in the title of HRH Prince Tungī.
The association was established with the purpose to encourage families to make wise decision on their health in order to create a more resilient family to diseases in Tonga.
Also attending the program was the Minister of MEIDECC – Hon. Poasi Tei, Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet – Edgar Cocker and many invited guests.
