Deputy Speaker attends Commonwealth Conference of Speakers & Presiding Officers

The Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga Lord Tu’iha’angana, is currently attending the 25th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth, in Ottawa, Canada
Lord Tu’iha’angana addressed the conference today on the theme “Challenges and Opportunities Arising from the Displacement of a Parliamentary Assembly”, where he shared the experiences by Tonga’s Parliament in its unforeseen displacement due to the destruction of Tonga’s parliament house by Tropical Cyclone Gita in February 2018.
The conference brings together Speakers from across the Commonwealth to share developments in parliamentary procedure and practice.
The Deputy Speaker is accompanied by the Chief Clerk of Parliament, Gloria Poleo.
