Prime Minister marks completion of three houses damaged by cyclone Gita

The Prime Minister this afternoon marked the completion of the construction of three houses that were badly damaged by cyclone Gita in 2018.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister – Hon. Dr. Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa says, he is happy to witness first hand, how the families are excited to return to their homes after the devastation from Gita.
Pohiva adds, the government is doing everything they can to ensure a faster recovery efforts from Gita especially now as Cyclone Tino is approaching the country.
The Prime Minister then marked the completion of the construction project for three families including Filivalea Piuleini of Popua, Belinda Taufa of Pahu and Sela Vete living in ‘Amaile, Kolofo’ou.
Under the recovery process from Gita, the government has built four new houses in partnership with the ‘Ofa Construction.
According to the survey carried out by the Statistics Department, 171 houses altogether in Tonga were affected from cyclone Gita.
