TC Tino impacts transportation on the island of Vava’u

The Prime Minister Hon Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa and his delegation today witnessed the severe impacts of TC Tino on the island of Vava’u especially on the smaller islands.
The assessment on the damage from TC Tino started around 6 this morning and the Prime Minister and his delegation travelled by boats to the smaller islands in Vava’u.
This morning, the PM was welcomed by the people of Ovaka and the locals raised their concerns about transportation as they are not able reach the main island due to the damage from TC Tino.
Speaking to Radio and Television Tonga News the town officer of Ovaka Pasimata Vaisima says the wharf was badly damaged from Tino and now the island with more than 200 population could no longer travel to the main island. A similar damage was recorded on the wharfs of Falevai and ‘Otea.
PM and his delegation also had an opportunity to meet with the people of Vava’u and discussed development plans.
The delegation includes the Minister of Police Lord Nuku, Minister of Trade Hon. Samiu Vaipulu and the Minister of Infrastructure Hon. ‘Akosita Lavulavu.
Also part of the delegation are Viola Ulakai and Fineasi Tonga from Radio and Television Tonga.
