Government preschools set up in primary schools around the country

The Ministry of Education and Training this year are working on expanding some of the existing government primary schools to include pre-schools as part of their work to ensure the right foundation for students going into secondary school and onwards to university levels.
The Education Minister – Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni says this year, they are putting more emphasis on pre-schools as this is the best foundation for children ages 3 and 4 before entering Primary school for class 1.
This was one of the issues he highlighted during last week’s special prayer service with teachers of government schools in Tongatapu.
Meanwhile, the principal of GPS Tokomololo – Losena Musie says, they are delighted with this implementation as there will be more benefits when they reach class one.
The government schools began this morning and more than 20 students today registered at Tokomololo’s pre-school.
The other schools that will also include a pre-school includes GPS Veitongo, GPS Fatai, and GPS Ha’asini in Tongatapu, while in Ha’apai, GPS Pangai and GPS Ha’alaufuli in Vava’u.
The Ministry is hopeful for a fruitful academic year for 2020 with pre-schools established throughout Tonga.
