Renovation of the two Niua’s ports to commence next month

The project to repair the two Niua’s ports is expected to commence next month after the contract was signed yesterday between the CEO of Infrastructure Ringo Fa’oliu and the Managing Director of Puloka Construction Tevita Puloka.
A press release from the Ministry states, in 2018 a technical assessment identified maritime safety works are needed in the ports of Ha’apai, Vava’u, Eua and the Niuas.
The project includes, repairing the loading and unloading areas as well as the docking area, and replacement of bollards and fenders.
The project is expected to be completed in September.
Similar work is currently underway in the island of ‘Eua to be completed in July.
Meanwhile the portworks in Vava’u and Ha’apai were undertaken in 2019.
The projects are funded by the World Bank under the Tonga Climate Resilient Transport Project.
