The acting health minister Poasi Tei confirmed yesterday that the first group of athletes that arrived in London early yesterday morning, were welcomed by the Tongan High Commissioner to the UK – H.E Hon. Fanetupouvava’u Tu’ivakano, and the report from the UK is that the athletes are all in good health so far.
Tei says government had provided funds to cover the costs of the athletes quarantine in London to ensure they are safe, while they will be monitored for symptoms of the Covid-19 and taken care of by Dr. Faka’osi Pifeleti.
If any of the athletes start to show symptoms of the virus, there are protocols and procedures of the British government that they will then have to follow but they are hopeful that the athletes are safe and clear of the virus.
