Chicken meat destroyed after declared unfit for consumption

Authorities in Vava’u destroyed more than four hundred cartons of chicken leg quarters that were found in an Asian shop being sold to the public despite being unfit for consumption.
The Town officer of Neiafu – Vava Lapota says they had received a complaint from a local who noticed the spoiled meat being sold in the store over the weekend. They then contacted the Food Authority who visited the shop and confirmed the local’s complaint and ordered the meat be destroyed immediately.
It was later determined that there had been a problem with the refrigerator that the meat was being stored in which led to the meat spoiling.
