New CEO for Tonga National Qualifications and Accreditation Board

Dr. Opeti Pulotu of Toula, Vava’u has been appointed as the new CEO for the Tonga National Qualifications and Accreditation Board (TNQAB) with immediate effect from Friday 21st February 2020. The appointment follows approval by the Minister for Education and Training and Cabinet.

Dr. Pulotu served as the Principal Qualifications Officer at TNQAB since its establishment and has an intimate understanding of educational assessment, registration, approval and accreditation of programmes. Recently, he successfully completed a highly relevant PhD in Educational Assessment from Durham University in the United Kingdom.

The priority for the Board and the task ahead for Dr. Pulotu is to ensure the quality assurance of all post-compulsory education and training programmes, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes. He will also continue to lead the efforts of the Board, for their accredited programmes, to be accepted by more international educational systems.
