Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u visited the village of Ha’ateiho an estate of Lord Tu’iha’ateiho, the village of Tokomololo – estate of Ma’afutukui’aulahi, and the villages of Lomaiviti, Kahoua and Pea, estates of His Majesty the King.
The Queens inspection visit with the Fakama’unga group – comprising of the wives of the nobles is the first of many inspection visits organised for throughout the year so that by the end of the year they would have visited all the estates of the nobles.
This initiative is aimed at emphasizing the importance of the village clean-up campaigns led by government such as the programs in preparation for the celebrations of the Kings birthday.
The villagers taking part in the Queen’s inspection visit on Saturday warmly welcomed the Queen with displays of fine mats, Tongan koloa, dancing, and in some villages – displays of their 72hr emergency bag which was emphasized because of the importance of disaster preparedness especially as Tonga is still in Cyclone Season.
