Chinese businessman donates financial assistance to the Government

People’s Representative of Vava’u 15 to Parliament who’s also the Minister for Trade this afternoon donated monetary assistance of $50,000 pa’anga to the government in the fight against coronavirus.
The assistance was donated from the owner of the Elim hotel in Vava’u and was presented to the Prime Minister.
The Minister Hon. Samiu Vaipulu says, the assistance is to support government’s program in preparation for COVID-19.
Last weekend, Chinese businesses collected over $40,000 pa’anga and was presented to the governor of Vava’u to fund necessary supplies and equipment such as face masks and hand sanitizers amongst others for the people.
Meanwhile, China’s Ambassador to Tonga – H.E Cao Xialin highlights the significance of working together to fight the spread of COVID-19.
He adds, with the suspected case in Tonga, it is important for the public to be vigilant, and make all efforts to prevent and control any potential outbreak.
In a press statement from Chinese embassy office states, China has maintained close cooperation in epidemic prevention and control with Tonga.
China’s government assisted the 51 Tongan athletes who had finished their training in China and the Chinese embassy has kept in close contact with the Tongan ministry of health, sharing information and experiences, and provided TOP40,000 for the capacity building against the epidemic.
Xao is confident that, with the joint efforts of China, Tonga and the whole international community, will be able to defeat COVID-19.
