Businesses caught price gouging can have license revoked

The Ministry of Trade has warned that businesses in Tonga that are price gouging and will potentially have their license revoked.
A Press Release from the Ministry reports they have been receiving complaints with regards to price gouging of business due to the recent developments in Tonga especially now as most of the people are preparing for COVID-19.
The Ministry states there are some suppliers and retailers who are taking advantage of Tonga’s current situation and at their best trying to profiteer.
It adds this behavior is considered deeply unethical and irresponsible.
The Ministry will be monitories all businesses in Tongatapu, ‘Eua, Ha’apai, Vava’u and the two Niua’s, that are price gouging and will potentially revoke their license.
The Ministry is urging the cooperate with the businesses so that the current situation does not affect the people.
