Tourism Sector to be assisted by stimulus package from government

There is concern from the Ministry of Tourism that the Kingdoms tourism sector will suffer as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the measures that are put in place for the protection of the country and are hoping the government would be able to create a stimulus package to assist those in the tourism sector.
The CEO of the Ministry of Tourism – Sione Moala Mafi says the issues are same with other Pacific Islands and they have been working now to help out the employees in the tourism sector, the ministry has proposed a stimulus package from the Government for the employees and the tourism industries, and also to request payment for the commercial banks to be postpone due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He also adds the effects of the tourism sectors in Tonga depends from the transportation but due to the lock down of the borders in Tonga many tourism industries such as resorts, hotels and guest houses are effects and it has been effects since January.
The Ministry of tourism have more than thousands of employees.
