Thirty-three-year-old Falealea Vaka’uta of Pangai ‘Eua appeared in court at the Supreme Court this morning pleading guilty to one count of possession of illicit drugs.
Vaka’uta was arrested by police during an operation at the Nafanua Wharf on January 25th 2018, as Vaka’uta was about to travel to Tongatapu. Police found 1200 grams of cannabis in Vaka’utas bag and he admitted to being in possession of illicit drugs.
In his ruling, Justice Cato said Vaka’uta’s sentence will be reduced as he had pleaded guilty and had assisted the police in their investigations.
Vaka’uta will appear in court again on May 22nd for his sentencing.
