(Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 04/08/2016)
His Majesty King Tupou VI will officially open the first pack house established on the island of ‘Eua tomorrow.
This is after the completion of the construction of the pack house located in ‘Ohonua at the Ministry of Agriculture’s property.
Reports from our stringer in ‘Eua – Tuifio Finau, says the locals will use the pack house to pack all their agricultural produce, catches from the ocean or the women’s handicraft targeting for exports.
This multi-million project was made possible through close collaboration of the Governments of Australia and Tonga and also the International Fund for Agricultural development as well as the MORDI Tonga Trust.
There’s hope the new pack house will help with boost Tonga’s development through exports of local goods overseas.
The new pack house is equipped with the latest packing equipment to be in line with international trade standards.
Their Majesties are expected to arrive in ‘Eua tomorrow morning and will reside at the Heilala Tangitangi Palace before they grace the island’s Royal Agricultural show with their presence.
This year’s show is to be held at Niu’eiki grounds in Angahaa on Saturday, which will be broadcast live on Radio Tonga, and recorded on Television Tonga for later broadcast.
