Food Products spoiled in TC Harold destroyed

A container of food products was destroyed at Tapuhia Landfill as they were deemed unfit for consumption due to the impacts from TC Harold. The food products were imported from overseas which was at the wharf when TC Harold made landfall.
The damaged products were stored inside a container at Patangata which were seized and destroyed yesterday by the Ministry of Agriculture in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development aiming to protect consumers and enforce good business practice.
The CEO of the Ministry responsible for foods – Dr. Viliami Manu says, the goods destroyed included 8 cartons of milk, 4 cartons of breakfast crackers, cream crackers, 10 cartons of noodles, 2 cartons of canned chicken, 5 cartons of ocean queen tinned-fish, 1 carton of biscuits and other non-food products including 5 cartons of Mortein mosquito coil, 4 cartons of Victoria mosquito coil and 10 packets of toilet paper.
The cost of the damage will be taken care of by the Cost Insurance and Freight as it was from a natural disaster cause.
