Reconstruction of damaged houses by Gita to complete by December

The Prime Minister has vowed that the government will do all they can to ensure fast recovery effort from houses damaged two years ago by TC Gita. This was part of his speech to mark the completion of six houses that were rebuilt last week at a ceremony at Tatakamotonga.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister – Dr. Pohiva Tu’ionetoa says, it has been two long years since these families have lived with some of their relatives and seeking for a permanent shelter was one of their desperate needs especially during this challenging time from COVID-19.
The Prime Minister says, he is always delighted to see the smile on the faces of these families and expects to see more when the construction work to all houses that were affected completed.
He also says, although some of the construction work to houses this year is greatly affected by restrictions from COVID-19, however they will try their best to complete the houses damage by Gita as there are also houses to be built that were greatly affected by two cyclones this year including cyclone Tino and Harold.
Meanwhile, Minister of Infrastructure – ‘Akosita Lavulavu says, they are hoping to be able to complete houses affected by Gita by the end of this year.
The Prime Minister then presented the keys to the six families which included Tevita Moala of Tatakamotonga,
Sione Loto’ahea of Lavengatonga, ‘Akimoana Kaufana of Pelehakee, Sione Fine of ‘Anana, Sione ‘Amanani of Ngele’ia and ‘Isileli Vea of ‘Euaa.
