Epworth Laimani of Hofoa appeared at the Supreme Court this morning charged with 2 counts of possessions of drugs and bribery of police officers.
Laimani was arrested On August 10 2018 at Kolofo’ou with 5.15 gram of methamphetamine Class A and 3.59 gram of cannabis Class B.
He was also charged with bribery of two police officers with 1thousands pa’anga in an attempt to escape the first charge of drug possession
Laimani pleaded not guilty to these charges.
However, Laimani is still serving an earlier sentence at Hu’atolitoli Prison and he will appear again in Court on June 29.
Meanwhile at the same Court, a 38-year-old man, Viliami Pongi of Nakolo pleaded guilty for possessions of illicit drugs after he was found on May 8 2019 at Nakolo with 0.50 gram of methamphetamine Class A and 9.27 gram of cannabis Class B.
Pongi was also charged with possession 45 .22 caliber bullets without a license which he also pleaded guilty to.
Justice Cato ruled that Pongi be under probation for 12 months under the direction of a probation officer, join a special program for alcohol and drug abuse and carry out 40 hours of community works.
