Health Director advise public to stay prepared for COVID-19
Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 01/06/2020
With the national coronavirus restrictions being eased further in the latest notice, the Health Director has re-emphasized that the public should not become complacent but to continue to practice good hygiene and refrain from mass gatherings, even as the country remains COVID-19 free.
Dr. Siale ‘Akau’ola expressed concern as they prepare for the borders to open soon, and this is one of the ways the coronavirus can enter the country, and the public need to remain prepared for what may come.
Last week the Minister for MEIDECC informed the Whole House Committee of governments plans to reopen the borders this month but they are yet to finalise a decision on the matter as the Ministry of Health needs to be fully prepared to cater for the returning passengers before the borders can be reopened.
The national coronavirus restrictions notice was extended further last week with some of the restrictions being eased, including curfew being pushed back to begin at 11pm to 5am now.
