Media Association Tonga award World Media Freedom Day prizes

The Media Association of Tonga’s programs too mark World Freedom Day this year finally wrapped up yesterday with the presentation of the prizes for the essay competition for high school and tertiary students.
The New Zealand High Commissioner – H.E Tiffany Babington awards prizes yesterday to the winners of the MAT Essay Competitions to mark the World Freedom Day for this year.
In her remarks, HE highlighted the responsibilities of journalists as very important to serve the public facts information especially this COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, the Media Association of Tonga arranged a competition through Internet include essay competition with the theme “Journalism without fear or favour”
However, the High Commissioner of New Zealand, presented cash prizes to the winners as Maliana Afu from Liahona High School won the first prize for the Secondary school essay competition, Gregory Kulitapa won the first prize for the Tertiary school from Tonga Institute of Higher Education and Henry Latuselu won the most entertaining essay from the Tonga Institute of Higher Education.
Meanwhile one of the winners Gregory Kulitapa thanked the High Commissioner and the Media Association for the opportunity for them to overcome the competitions.
The High Commissioner of New Zealand funded the Media Competitions.
