Tourism Ministry present prizes for clean-up campaign first quarter

In her remarks the Tourism Minister – Hon. ‘Akosita Lavulavu says, it is important to work collaboratively with the public in beautifying, protecting and sustaining the environment for a beautiful Tonga.

The theme for the program is “Beautiful Tonga clean and green up”, an initiative of engaging local communities and villages while promoting cleaning up campaigns.

With this, the Minister also emphasize the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

During the program the Minister presented prizes to the winners in round one of a Tourism Village Clean Up Competition.

The competition was divided into 2 groups, the larger and smaller villages.

For the larger villages category, Lapaha won first prize from the Eastern District, Kolovai from the Western District, Malapo from the Middle District and Kolomotu’a from the Nuku’alofa District.

For the smaller villages, Fatumu claimed first place from the Eastern District, Matahau from the Western District, Lomaiviti from the Middle District and Hofoa from the Nuku’alofa district.

Meanwhile, the town officer of Hofoa thanked the staff of the Ministry for a wonderful program which helps promote working together to beautify their villages.

A similar program will be conducted in Vava’u.
