7 new classrooms for AFC after damage from Gita

The Prime Minister Hon Dr. Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa this morning marked the completion of the construction of seven new classrooms in ‘Apifo’ou College.

This is the completion of the first phase of the construction project under the Pacific Resilience Emergency Program of the ministry of MEIDECC or PREP.

The Principal of ‘Apifo’ou College – Fr. ‘Ekuasi Latu told Radio Tonga news that this was exciting for the students, teachers, ex-students and friends of ‘Apifo’ou College as the completion of the first phase of the project will benefit about 200 students.  Students had been studying in tents for almost two years now.

The first phase of the project after tropical cyclone Gita included building seven new classrooms which started at the beginning of the year.

The second phase of the project includes the construction of 3 new classrooms later on this year.

‘Apifo’ou College was severely damaged by cyclone Gita.
