Second repatriation flight from Fiji arrives tomorrow

Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 01/09/2020

The second repatriation flight from Fiji is expected to arrive in Tonga at 1pm tomorrow with 65 passengers.

The Health Director – Dr Siale ‘Akauola, says these passengers have been tested for COVID-19 and the Ministry of Health is working together with Fiji Airways to make sure these passengers are safe from Covid-19 before arriving.

Some of these passengers have carried out their tests last week and Radio Tonga news yesterday reported that they will no longer need to carry out a second test as their first test suffices the Ministr of health.

Siale adds, there was a chartered flight last night the 31st of August that repatriated New Zealand citizens that were stranded here in Tonga back to their country; he also confirmed that a similar flight took place on the 27th of August.

Another flight arrived in Tonga today to refill and was approved under emergency purposes.

Another repatriation flight is expected to arrive from the Solomon Islands on Saturday this week at around 3pm.
