Second repatriation flight from Fiji arrives

The second repatriation flight from Fiji arrived safely this afternoon at the Fua’amotu International Airport with 52 passengers.

The Health Minister told Radio Tonga news this afternoon, that two flights will be arriving today in Tonga including the flight from Fiji and another flight from Kiribati.

The flight from Fiji is the final repatriated flight from Fiji.

Dr ‘Amelia says, 65 passengers altogether were expected to arrive today from Fiji however only 52 boarded the flight as some of the passengers stayed back to complete their studies.

However, the flight from Kiribati is a chartered flight by the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints which includes 7 passengers and a deceased.

Health Minister says, they’ve received information from the Area Seventy of the Church that all the passengers arriving from Kiribati have been tested for COVID-19 and were all COVID-19 free.

As usual, the policy for deceased passengers will be self-isolated for three days at the hospital before being allowed to meet with the family.

Meanwhile, the front liners are working hand in hand to monitor the 59 passengers from Fiji & Kiribati while in quarantine at Tano’a hotel.
