Tonga Police to receive assistance from United State’s Office of Special Investigations

A virtual Key Leader meeting between Tonga’s Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Tevita Vailea and the 6th Office of Special Investigations Commander – Colonel Vasaga Tilo Jr was held last week.
According to a statement Vailea and Tilo discussed ongoing law enforcement capacity building initiatives and innovative virtual ideas for future engagements with Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and the Tonga Police.
Vailea told Radio Tonga this morning that this part of the United States initiatives in assisting Pacific countries particularly with security and law enforcement.
Tilo said that with Tonga Police being a key member in the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Association, and the OSI is committed to cooperate with their regional partners through training and exchanges to strengthen their ties and keep a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The OSI is under the US Air force and is based in Hawaii.
