The International Tano’a Hotel will once again be used to quarantine the repatriation passengers from New Zealand.
The Tano’a Hotel will be used to isolate and quarantine the 141 repatriation passengers from Christchurch New Zealand today.
The Health Minister – Dr ‘Amelia Tu’ipulotu says, they had initially planned to use the Makeke site, however, after an assessment of the site on Wednesday they came to the conclusion that it did not meet certain requirements, hence why the Tano’a Hotel and the Taliai Camp will be used.
These incoming passengers, have tested negative for COVID-19 in Christchurch before boarding the flight. Upon arrival, they will undergo the usual procedures such as being tested for COVID-19 again and go through 14 days of quarantine.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister emphasized the importance of abiding by the COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the Ministry.
This is the 5th repatriation flight for stranded citizens to Tonga since borders were closed back in March this year.
