Nevada – Tonga’s Military continue dialogue

The state partnership program between the Nevada National Guard and HMAF, continues.
17 of the guards from Nevada are currently in Nuku’alofa as part of the State Partnership program.
Speaking to Radio Tonga News was the Director of the Staff Nevada – Colonel Glen Martel says, the purpose of their visit is to look at ways to develop both the force’s knowledge in delivering its service to the public.
“We’re here doing information exchange and this week we’re looking at generators, food security as well as search and rescue. So we had opportunity to work with various agencies throughout the Kingdom to include the Fire Department, Police and the Army, to look at capabilities within the Kingdom of Tonga, so its been an informative trip for us as well.”
Meanwhile Lt. Col. Lord Ve’ehala of HMAF says, this program promotes collaboration between the two forces share their knowledge.
The troop from Nevada arrived Nuku’alofa on Monday and will be heading back to the States tomorrow evening.
The state partnership program between the two forces was established in 2014 when Tau’aika ‘Uta’atau was the Brigadier General at the time.
