TDB presents scholarships to 5 students from QSC

Five students of Queen Salote College(QSC) were this morning fortunate to receive scholarships from the Tonga Development Bank(TDB). This is part of TDB’s assistance to ensure that students who are willing to study but are financially unable to, can have ongoing access to education. The fund allocated for this program is taken from the Bank’s annual profit.
Speaking to Radio Tonga News the Coordinator of the Hospitality and Catering Department – Tulusi(Dulci) Tei says this assistance is important for these students.
“The school fees for Hospitality and Catering Department is expensive apart from the normal school fees. This assistance helps these student’s to continue their studies. The scholarships presented today is very helpful not only for these students but including their families and the school.”
Meanwhile one of the recipients of the scholarships said, she is excited to receive this help, because it will help improve her study this year.
“I am very honored in receiving this scholarship and I thank the Tonga Development Bank for this opportunity. This gives me the courage to continue on my study into another level and not only that but it alleviate the difficulties my family is facing in paying my school fees this year.”
The scholarships are worth TOP$3,000 and were presented to students by the school principal – ‘Asinate Samate.
Other 12 secondary schools and tertiary institutes in Tonga are part of this program.
